Governance Big Data asks what large-scale data can tell us about how governments actually work. The course sits across social science and data science, and it is pitched at graduate students who have already met regression, whether through Analysis of Political Data (70700173) or through a statistics or econometrics course elsewhere.
Rather than survey techniques for their own sake, each method arrives attached to a governance problem drawn from public administration, judicial transparency, political communication, or social governance. I co-teach the course with Dr. MENG Tianguang and give the following lectures.

《政务大数据》(80700673) 面向全校社会科学与管理学专业的研究生，探讨大规模数据能够告诉我们什么样的治理规律。课程横跨社会科学与数据科学，涵盖政治学、社会学、管理学、统计学与数据科学的理论知识和实用技术，目标是提高学生的数据应用意识、建立数据思维、了解前沿方法，并掌握数据采集、处理、分析与解释的基本原理。
课程不为介绍方法而介绍方法。每一种方法都结合公共管理、司法开放、政治传播、社会治理等政务大数据的实际应用案例展开，为学生将大数据方法用于自己的具体研究打下基础。本课由我与清华大学政治学系孟天广教授合开，推荐已修习《政治数据分析》或具备统计学、计量经济学基础的同学选修。以下是我在本课中常授的专题。
